Moorlands MP Karen Bradley highlights tourism initiative live on Moorlands Radio; then minutes later at Prime Minister’s Questions

Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley appeared on the Moorlands Radio Mid-Morning show today with Tony Mullins just minutes before PMQs, to talk about her new tourism initiative, then was delighted to be able to ask a question at Prime Minister’s Questions.

Karen managed to catch the Speaker’s eye to ask a question to the Deputy Prime Minister. She spoke about her initiative a Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands, mentioning Alton Towers Resort, Hetty’s Tea Shop, Heaton House Farm and local artists who have all featured in the first 4 weeks. She also spoke about this week’s reason – Leek Club Day that is taking place on Saturday 8th July.

Karen invited the Deputy Prime Minister and the Speaker to visit one of these organisations and was pleased when they both agreed to do so.

Commenting, Karen said:

“I started my Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands initiative at the beginning of June. We live in such an incredibly beautiful and special part of the UK and I want to show everyone just what we have to offer in the Moorlands, help promote tourism and bring even more visitors to our local area.

“I was delighted to be able to ask a Question at DPMQs and tell everyone about this great initiative. I look forward to welcoming my colleagues to the Moorlands.”

For a whole year, each week, Karen will be focusing on one of the many Reasons that people enjoy the Moorlands and encouraging everyone to share their great experiences and photos of that Reason on her Year of Reasons Twitter page @VisitMoorlands.
