New customer friendly P&D machines in all Council car parks

New modern ticket machines, which take both cash and card payments, have been installed at all District Council car parks across the Moorlands.

The previous machines, which had reached the end of their useful life, were only able to accept cash payments.

The Council has replaced the 31 ticket machines at its 20 car parks with energy efficient versions offering customers the payment flexibility that they expect.

The phone app PaybyPhone is also available for those who prefer to pay that way.

Councillor Charlotte Atkins, Cabinet Member for Services, said: “People are right to expect the Council to provide modern amenities which offer the flexible payment options they are able to use for so many other goods and services.

“That’s why I’m pleased that this work to replace the pay and display machines is now completed – and that we’ve listened to, and acted on, the views and feedback of customers to ensure they take both cash and contactless card payments.

“Drivers also still have the option to use the PaybyPhone app if they prefer which makes paying for parking in the Moorlands now much more convenient and brings it in line with so many other services that people rely on as they go about their daily lives.”

The new machines are dual power models which means they operate on solar generated power backed up by mains power connections when required.
