Radio 1’s Mollie King stops by Leek Community Fire Station

Earlier today (13th March), Staffordshire Fire and Rescue welcomed Radio 1 presenter Mollie King to Leek Community Fire Station as part of her mammoth cycling fundraising challenge across the country this week.

The former member of The Saturdays stopped off in Staffordshire for a well-deserved comfort break during her fundraiser for Comic Relief.

She set off on her bike from London on Monday (11th March) and is attempting a 500-kilometre journey to Kingston-Upon-Hull over the course of the week.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer Glynn Luznyj was among the team to greet Mollie as she arrived in Leek.

DCFO Glynn Luznyj said: “We were delighted to welcome Mollie and her team to Leek Community Fire Station today.

“We are all inspired by Mollie’s fundraising efforts, so we were only too happy to provide her with a much needed lunch stop before she continues her journey.

“I hope that her time in Leek, albeit brief, was an enjoyable one, although I suspect that the highlight was meeting our beloved mascot, Welephant!”
