Extensive road improvements have begun in Cheadle this week.
Highways crews are carrying out essential repairs on the A522 Tean Road between the junction of Charles Street to the junction of Huntley Lane.
The work, which started on Monday (November 4th) is seeing carriageway potholes fixed by a thermal road repair machine and vegetation being cut back along with repairs to kerbs, ironwork, footways and signs.
To minimise inconvenience, work is being carried out between the hours of 9.30am and 2.30pm until Friday 8th November with temporary traffic lights in place to help traffic flow.
There will be a temporary closure in place on Tean Road, between Freehay Road and Eaves Lane, on Thursday 7th November so that lines can be painted.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the scheme.
Mark Deaville, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways, said: “We’re pleased to see this improvement work underway in Cheadle, as quality roads are essential for keeping everyone connected and safe.
“Our goal is to limit any disruption to the community, which is why we’ve scheduled work during off-peak hours, planned only a single road closure, and ensured access to local properties and businesses remains open throughout.
“The county council remains committed to fixing more roads, which is why we’ve invested an additional £8 million to address potholes and drainage concerns across Staffordshire, on top of the £50 million we’ve allocated for highway maintenance and improvements over the next three years.”
