Searches continuing for missing Leek man around Rudyard Lake

Specialist search teams are continuing to search the area around Rudyard Lake as efforts to locate missing 77-year-old Hugh, from Leek, continue.

Hugh was reported missing at about 5.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 20th August). Police believe he travelled to Rudyard Lake the same day.

Hugh is described as white with a bald head and a moustache. He usually wears fishing-type clothing like cotton trousers with a shirt and jacket.

Search teams have been working through the night to search the area using drones and a search boat alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Volunteers from Staffordshire, Cheshire, West Mercia, Merseyside and Derby are also helping with efforts in the area today (Wednesday 21st August).

A large police presence is expected to remain in the area this afternoon.
