Staffordshire Moorlands village is the epicentre of a 3.3 magnitude earthquake

On Wednesday night residents in the Moorlands reported rattling windows and doors as the area was hit by a 3.3 magnitude earthquake.

The tremor had an epicentre of 4.5 miles below the village of Tean and was felt as far away as Birmingham and Manchester.

The British Geological Survey confirmed the earthquake last night after they had been contacted by residents from across the region.

It is the largest of 21 earthquakes to hit the UK in the last 2 months, beating two 1.8 magnitude tremors felt on the isle of Mull in May.
