Chester 0 Stoke (2) 3 – 11/7/24 7.45
Stoke were given a good runaround by a decent Chester side in their first friendly. Emre Tezgel scored a brace before half time, before Steven Schumacher changed the whole team, showing he had 2 players for each position already! Youngster Jaden Dixon looked capable in central defence, & Tezgel got goals, but they may both be squeezed out by forthcoming loan players…?
–
Eric Bocat at left back (& corner taker) looked fast and furious! And skillful. Ben Gibson looked commanding at the back, & 3rd newbie Viktor Johansson looked alert in goal.

–
The rest of the squad looked fit, and competition for places could be fierce. Here’s how the games unfolded:
–
First pre-season friendly finds Stoke in Wales…well, just over the border in Chester. All 3 new players start.
–
12.00 1-0! Emre Tezgel fires the ball through the keeper. Good assist pass from Vidigal.
–
20.00 Stoke hit the bar, whilst newbie keeper Johansson is happy to charge out of his area with little encouragement.
–
32.00 New boy Ben Gibson tackles from behind, somehow avoiding a card.
–
45.00 2-0! Tezgel has a couple of goes at blasting home.
–
HT 2-0
–
45.01 Complete change for Stoke. The likes of Million, Junho, Jaden Dixon & Junior come on. Million Manhoef is taking corners!
–
75.00 Brilliant through ball by Junho finds Niall Ennis, but his excellent finish is just offside. Brilliant.
–
84.00 3-0! Niall Ennis taps home in the corner from a low cross from the left by Junho.
