Werrington fundraiser breaks library record for one-day event

The Werrington volunteers held a special fundraiser for British Heart Foundation and raised over £400 in their Community Library.

Organised by Wellbeing Coordinator Wendy Sandbrook with the support of Werrington’s famous Knit & Natter Ladies plus a host of volunteers the occasion proved to be a great success.

The Knit & Natter Ladies produced two unusual raffle prizes, a four-character set of Beatrix Potter “Peter Rabbit and Friends” in a basket which was won by ticket 331 and a large “Love” cushion won by ticket 541. The draws were made by Karen Bradley MP.

Wendy said that it turned out to be a wonderfully happy day and commented – “It is so lovely how everyone comes together for the good causes we support which help improve the lives of so many people as part of our wellbeing ethos”.

Werrington Community Library & Wellbeing Centre has recently received national acclaim which makes it one of the most successful community managed libraries in the country thanks to a dedicated band of volunteers.
