King’s Birthday Honours for Staffordshire Moorlands residents

Volunteering and helping others are the themes linking many Staffordshire residents recognised by His Majesty the King in his Birthday Honours.

Pillars of the local community and representatives of the Royal British Legion, Citizens Advice and youth voluntary services are amongst those receiving honours across the county.

Receiving an MBE is BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen for his services to charity and broadcasting, while sports coaches and a conservation volunteer have been recognised too.

In the Moorlands Valerie Helen Riley, of Leek, a volunteer conservation warden for the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, receives an MBE for services to wildlife conservation.

Linda Mary Forrister, of Leek, receives a BEM for services to British Gymnastics.

Mr Ian Dudson CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, said: “The concept of service has always underpinned His Majesty’s public life and it is no surprise to see so many people who help others honoured.

“On behalf of his Majesty I would like to congratulate each and every person for this special recognition.”
