Stringer’s – 70 Not Out!

The Moorlands Radio sports team are a close knit bunch.

They work together week on week to bring you the most comprehensive coverage of local sport – particularly focusing on those sports teams across the Staffordshire Moorlands.

One of the stalwarts of the sports team is Dave Stringer or ‘Stringers’ as he is affectionately referred to by his colleagues.

Stringers has reached the milestone birthday of 70 years young and was recently presented with a commemorative gift by Sports Editor Tony Walley on behalf of the whole Moorlands Radio sports team.

Tony Walley said: “Dave Stringer has been a key member of our team for the past two years. His knowledge of local football and cricket is second to none and he has a really interesting dynamic with his co-commentator Ian Corbishley. He has also held many positions within local sport including refereeing to a decent standard before going on to serve as a director for some of our local football clubs.”

“We hope that Dave is behind the mic giving his expert analysis for many years to come – he’s an all round team player!”

Lead commentator, Ian Corbishley said: “Stringers is the best local football pundit I’ve ever worked with – I really enjoy commentating with him.”

Dave had last weekend off to celebrate with his wife Sandra and their family but he will be back at his duties this weekend. He will join Tony and Ian for their long trip east to cover Leek Town in the FA Cup away at Boston Town.
