Appeal after man dies following collision in Winkhill

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision between Leek and Ashbourne yesterday (Monday 2nd January).

Police were called at 6.35pm to Ashbourne Road in Winkhill after a blue Mini Cooper and a red Fiat had come into collision.

Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Sadly, the driver of the Mini, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this difficult time.

The occupants of the Fiat, a woman in her 50s and a 17-year-old girl, were assessed at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment.

Anyone who saw the collision or those with dashcam footage of the area are asked to get in touch with Moorlands Police via 101, Facebook or Twitter, quoting incident 575 of 2nd January.
