Appeal for witnesses after motorhome is stolen in Leek

Police have recovered a silver Ford Transit motorhome in Buxton, 30 minutes after it was stolen in Leek on Tuesday night.

Officers were called at 5.40pm on 2nd January to reports a motorhome had been stolen from Westwood Road, Leek.

A man described as wearing all black including a balaclava, with his hood up, walked up to the property and stole the motorhome. He was with a second male – wearing similar clothing – and the motorhome and a white Audi life in convoy towards Buxton.

Police followed the two vehicles along the A53 into Buxton. Just before 6.05pm, they drove into a side road – Green Lane – and blocked the road with the motorhome, using the obstruction to escape in the white Audi.

Officers are carrying out enquiries including reviewing CCTV footage.

They are particularly keen to speak to a group of five teenagers who we believe may have seen two men acting suspiciously at the junction of Westwood Road and North Street at around 5.40pm.

Anyone who saw what happened or those with CCTV, smart doorbell or dashcam footage of the area of Westwood Road (Leek) or Green Lane (Buxton) are asked to get in touch with DC Adam Coomer by email at adam.coomer@staffordshire.police.uk.
