Families looking for fun-filled activities during the Easter holidays are being reminded that there is plenty on offer in Staffordshire.
Whether it’s visits to paid for attractions, trips to the countryside or activities at local libraries, museums, galleries, or animal attractions the county has plenty of choice.
To help families plan their holidays, the team at Enjoy Staffordshire have come up with ten ideas for great days out.
At Alton Towers, families can check out the all-new ride, The Curse of Alton Manor, and the UK’s only CBeebies Land where under 3’s go free. Whilst Drayton Manor in Tamworth hosts an Easter hunt, balcony shows, street entertainment and party games during the 15th birthday of Thomas Land.
At The Trentham Estate, visitors can have a go at finding six giant eggs on the I-Spy Egg Hunt, spot all the fairies on the Fairy Quest, and come up close with new-borns at Lambing Live. Wildlife lovers are also encouraged to keep an eye out for the newly introduced beavers on the estate.
Nearby, explore the brand new willow maze in the shape of a monkey, tackle the Easter trail, and walk among 140 primates at Trentham Monkey Forest, for a day out unlike any other.
There’s also something for all ages at the National Memorial Arboretum, from outdoor trails, arts and crafts activities and sensory play areas, to leisurely family strolls. Over at the National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton, there are also a host of Easter related activities along with a walk on the woodland trail to meet the Easter Bunny.
At Lower Drayton Farm in Penkridge, active and adventurous families can join a host of Easter fun with baby dinosaurs, trailer rides, scavenger hunts and more. Over at Weston Park, the site plays host to the popular Easter Motor Show, featuring vintage and classic cars, plus the chance to explore the vast gardens and Capability Brown parkland.
In the Staffordshire Moorlands, families can join the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party onboard a steam train at Churnet Valley Railway, and enter the world of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. And Forget Easter eggs, it’s all about Dragon eggs at Tamworth Castle where children can Join in the Dragon Egg Hunt from 1st-16th April.
Staffordshire’s visitor economy is worth around £1.8 billion annually, attracting around 28 million day or overnight trips each year. Tourism is also the fourth largest sector and supports around 33,000 jobs.
