Investigation launched following Leek sexual assault

Moorlands Police have launched an investigation following a report of a sexual assault in Leek.

It happened around 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 22nd May) when a woman was sexually assaulted by a man who was wearing a grey hoodie near Burton Street.

She is continuing to receive support from specially-trained officers.

Officers are progressing lines of enquiry at pace to identify the suspect.

Police are looking over CCTV, speaking to people in the area at the time and carrying out enquires as part of the investigation.

An increased number of officers are in the area to provide extra reassurance.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is urged to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 723 of 22nd May, or by messaging Staffordshire Police using Live Chat on their website.
