Karen Bradley MP – Weekly Update (27th December 2023)

As we move towards the New Year, this week’s Reason to Visit the Moorlands is all the brilliant people we have working in our local shops, in our pubs, restaurants and café’s and also those working for our emergency services over the holiday period.

Our towns look really festive and it was great to see so many people out supporting our local shops in the run up to Christmas. We have such fantastic produce whether it’s locally grown fruit and vegetables or the best local meat and poultry, the Moorlands has so much to offer. Locally made cakes, pastries, bread, pies, delicious chocolates, sweets and biscuits – our shops are truly wonderful.

Our pubs, café’s and restaurants have been busy too – some have been open whilst many of us were at home with our families so a huge thank you to everyone working in the hospitality industry over the holiday period.  You make sure that we can enjoy time with loved ones, without having to do the washing up, which is so appreciated.

And finally, I mentioned them last week, but the real heroes are the people working over Christmas and the New Year in our emergency services – our doctors, nurses and hospital staff, the police, fire service and ambulance service as well as the staff in our care homes and the many people volunteering or working with charities, on call to help those in need. I would like to thank each and every one of you.

I am looking forward to continuing with my A Year of Reasons initiative in 2024 – it has been an honour to highlight businesses, events and places that some people didn’t know about and to get such great feedback.

I wish everyone in Staffordshire Moorlands a very happy New Year.
