Karen Bradley MP – Weekly Update (4th June 2023)

I am delighted to launch my ‘Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands’ this week with the fabulous Alton Towers Resort – an incredibly popular tourist attraction that we are lucky to have right here in the Staffordshire Moorlands and certainly an important ‘Reason’ for people from all over the World to come and visit our local area.

It’s Mardi Gras time at Alton Towers until 18th June – a carnival style celebration with high energy entertainment, showstopping costumes and a great parade for the ultimate street party vibe. The area around the lake is transformed into a Food Street and guests can experience a variety of different dishes from around the world.

There are lots of exciting things happening at Alton Towers, including the return of the drop tower dark ride, Nemesis Sub-Terra and the Brand new ride for the 2023 season – The Curse at Alton Manor – a hair raising dark ride through the cursed manor. The Resort has also announced the arrival of the new Nemesis track, which is set to open in 2024.

Throughout 2023, Alton Towers will be hosting many events including the return of Oktoberfest, the award winning Scarefest and Fireworks Spectacular, plus Festival of Thrills is back for its second year with an exciting Smiler celebration.

Alton Towers Resort provides the ultimate staycation option too with five uniquely themed hotels and accommodation options for a truly unforgettable escape for friends, families and thrill seekers alike.

The resort is certainly a fantastic ‘Reason’ to visit the Moorlands. For more information www.altontowers.com and please do share your great experiences and photos of Alton Towers on my Year of Reasons Twitter @VisitMoorlands. Let’s do all we can to bring even more people to see all that we have to offer in this very special part of the UK.
