Leek Salvation Army Looking Forward to the End of Lockdown [Listen]

752

Leek Salvation Army literally cannot wait to be back out there when lockdown restrictions are finally lifted.

The Christian organisation plays a vital role locally helping people with a whole range of issues such as tackling homelessness, modern day slavery, poverty and social exclusion, helping elderly residents, getting people back into employment and helping with drug and alcohol addiction.

The Coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on the normal working of the Salvation Army but all the way through it they have still been able to help and support those who are in need.

In addition to their outreach work there is a range of weekly church services available which have been virtual during the lockdown but Captain Wallis is looking forward to spreading the word in person as soon as the restrictions allow.

Moorlands Radio News & Sports Editor Tony Walley spoke with Captain Leanne Wallis of Leek Salvation Army about the work they do and their vision for the future.
