Man in court over driving offences

A man has appeared in court charged with driving offences after a man died in a collision in the Staffordshire Moorlands earlier this year.

Police attended the scene on 24th February at Buttermilk Hill in Hollington following reports of a traffic-related incident.

Sadly, 32-year-old Thomas Henry Kent was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.

William Carney appeared before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 10th November.

He pleaded not guilty to two charges: failure to stop at the scene of a road incident and failure to report a road incident.

He was granted unconditional bail ahead of a trial due to commence on 15 May next year.

Members of the public are urged not to speculate about the case on social media so as not to prejudice legal proceedings.
