From Tuesday 1st October, the three Moorlands leisure centres will be managed and operated by the District Council’s new health and wellbeing company Alliance Leisure Limited.
The new company will run the centres in the Staffordshire Moorlands, and the four in neighbouring High Peak, for the Council and its Alliance partner High Peak Borough Council.
All centres will operate under the new MyActive brand – and the Council is now pleased to share what that branding looks like.
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: “We’re starting an exciting new chapter for our leisure centres to ensure they play in key role in the health and wellbeing of all our residents.
“The name above the door will change and the staff will be wearing smart new uniforms but I want to reassure everyone who uses our leisure centres that we’ve worked hard to ensure that this transition is a smooth and seamless one.
“We have some exciting improvements planned for our services and facilities – including the full redevelopment of Brough Park – and we’re looking forward to sharing those plans in due course.
“Moving more is at the heart of good health and wellbeing and MyActive will help everyone become more active! So we’re looking forward to welcoming all our customers at our centres and working with you to deliver the services you deserve.”
All memberships will remain the same and will transfer over to MyActive. Direct debit payments will transfer from the previous operator Parkwood to MyActive and further communications will be issued to members before that happens.
To help you continue to access services on the move, a new MyActive website and mobile app is being developed, and these will be available to use and download very soon.
Councillor Swindlehurst added: “Looking to the future, we have some exciting improvements planned for our services and facilities and we’re looking forward to sharing those plans in due course.”
To allow for the transition from the previous operator, leisure centres will close a little earlier than usual at 6pm on Monday 30th September but will re-open as normal the following day.
Biddulph Valley and South Moorlands will re-open as normal the following day. Brough Park Leisure Centre will remain closed for a period of around 18 months to allow the significant redevelopment work to take place.
Brough Park members can access the gym, swimming, squash and class facilities at the centres in Biddulph and Cheadle during the closure and many of the classes from Brough Park will continue at Birchall Pavilion in Leek.
