Improvements in responding to the public, 24/7 roads policing and providing the right care for vulnerable people are among the topics Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams will discuss with Chief Constable Chris Noble at a public meeting taking place on Tuesday 23rd January.
During the Police Public Performance Meeting, which will be broadcast live online from 2pm, the Commissioner will ask the Chief Constable about the progress the force is making to deliver the priorities detailed in his Police & Crime Plan.
Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “Part of my role as Commissioner is to monitor the force’s performance on behalf of the communities of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
“These meetings give people the opportunity to hear for themselves about the work underway at Staffordshire Police, and I would encourage anyone wanting to hear more about any of the topics discussed to follow Tuesday’s meeting, which will be live-streamed online and available to watch in full afterwards.”
Topics discussed at the meeting will include:
- The discharge of one of Staffordshire Police’s two Accelerated Causes of Concern, Responding to the Public, by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services, based on the force’s continuing improvement over several months and the inspectors’ findings after onsite testing in the autumn
- The relaunch of Operation Lightning in response to an increase in fatalities on our roads, investing in a 24/7 roads policing unit to tackle those who put other road users at risk, and continuing to educate the wider driving community about the importance of road safety.
- The phased implementation of ‘Right Care, Right Person’ from 1 February – a model designed to ensure that when there are concerns for a person’s welfare linked to mental health, medical or social care issues, the right person with the right skills, training and experience will respond
The Police Public Performance Meeting will be live-streamed online from 2pm on Tuesday 23rd January, and will also be available to view afterwards.
