The Potteries Centre announces 2022 award winners

The Potteries Centre, Stoke-on-Trent, has revealed the winners of its 2022 Awards following a celebratory evening held at Stoke-on-Trent’s DoubleTree by Hilton.

Visitors and staff at the Staffordshire retail and leisure hub voted for their favourite stores and restaurants, to celebrate some of the area’s best shops and eating destinations, as loved by locals.

The winners were announced during a red, white and blue themed ceremony with a selfie throne, royal family masks and British flags for decoration. Guests on the night included the centre’s tenants, stakeholders, dignitaries and local councillors, who were entertained by singing servers from the award-winning group, The Undercover Waiters, as well as a DJ.

Votes were cast on 13 competitive categories, including Women and Men’s Fashion store of the year, Health and Beauty store of the year, Food and Drink of the year, Specialist store of the year and Best Team award.

Centre teams also voted for the Health & Safety Compliance and Green/Sustainable award, which were new for 2022. Winners of each award were presented with a reclaimed wooden trophy, showcasing the centre’s commitment to sustainability produced by local company Stoke2000.

“After a two-year hiatus, it’s fantastic to be hosting these awards again, to shine a light on some of Stoke on Trent’s favourite stores and restaurants as well as the people who make our centre a great place to visit.

“It’s no secret that retail has had some challenges to overcome due to the pandemic, but I’m thrilled by the ongoing commitment of our centre and store/restaurant staff. This awards ceremony gives us the chance to recognise our hardworking teams – and the fact they’re voted for by the public makes it even more rewarding.

“It’s been brilliant to present our first ever Green / Sustainable and Health & Safety Compliance awards this year, and they truly represent the standards that we hold as a centre. Congratulations again, to all of our winners, and thank you to our headline sponsor, ABM, drinks sponsors Apex, Interactive Grottos and APAM and award sponsors Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID, Nurture, Interactive Grottos and MAPP for helping us to celebrate local talent.”

Since opening in 1989, The Potteries Centre has established itself at the heart of Hanley’s community, playing host to over 70 retail, leisure and culinary businesses, including a ‘pop up shop’ area dedicated to supporting small local enterprises.
