Wyatt Drafted in Women’s Big Bash League

2023 might not have started well as Danni Wyatt was left to face a “heart-breaking couple of days” after being over looked in the inaugural Indian Women’s Premier League (WPL) having played in the exhibition matches.

“I was very disappointed, obviously, having been a part of the IPL Exhibition matches and I love playing cricket in India. It’s one of the best places to play cricket. So, to not even have one bid was pretty heart-breaking. But that’s life. And my focus is purely on this World Cup now and, yeah, the sun still comes up the next day, doesn’t it?”

But instead of sitting around moping, the Stoke on Trent born England Cricketer seized the day getting engaged to partner Georgie Hodge, before making her Test Debut for England in this Summer’s Ashes series with Australia and being the corner stone of Southern Brave’s Women’s Hundred Team, hitting a six and nine fours in her 59 off 38 balls to help them post 139-6 against Northern Superchargers winning the title at the third time of asking.

Wyatt said of the victory,

“I’m absolutely buzzing to finally get that win here at Lord’s,

“When I was batting out there, I just felt ‘right, come on, stay out here, get as many runs as we can, and then hopefully our bowlers will bowl well’ and they did today.”

But the highlight of the Summer so far for Danni, is that Perth Scorchers have added the dynamic batter with its second selection, taking her in the “Gold” round (pick 11).

The experienced right-hander has compiled 1,608 runs at 26.36 from 68 WBBL games, placing her 21st on the WBBL all-time run-scoring list.

On the international stage, Wyatt has represented England 254 times (One Test, 105 ODIs, 148 T20Is) and demonstrated composure and creativity batting in multiple positions.

Wyatt also bowls useful off-spin, collecting 26 WBBL wickets at 22.34 during previous stints with Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades.

The Moorlands Radio Sports Team congratulate Danni on a very successful Summer.
