Laser pen pointed at airliner over Leek

Moorlands Police are warning residents of the dangers of laser pens.

Last Tuesday night (27th August), local police had a report from Air Traffic Control to state that an aircraft travelling to Manchester Airport had been hit with a green laser pen.

The laser had come from the Leek area.

Police are reminding residents that shining or directing a laser at an aircraft or road vehicles could lead to a prison sentence, unlimited fine or both.

People who target transport operators with laser devices could also be jailed for up to 5 years.
