Man charged following officer assaults in Biddulph

A man has been charged after two officers were assaulted and property was damaged in Biddulph.

Gareth Williamson, 37, and of no fixed address, has been charged with assault by beating, threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place, two counts of aggravated burglary with intent, two counts of criminal damage, theft from a shop, and two counts of assault by beating an emergency worker.

It comes after offers responded to a report of a disturbance inside Bargain Booze on Tunstall Road at around 8.30pm on Wednesday (25th September).

Police also received a report of three teenagers being approached by a man brandishing a pole on Shepherd Street.

A car, an exterior light and a communal staircase to a block of flats were also damaged.
